EMBRACING THE POWER OF MOVEMENT

ABOUT BÁILALO

Dance Studio Practice

Báilalo is a monthly movement workshop at Jackson's Lane Arts Centre.

In this safe space you will have the opportunity to connect with your body and voice in a mindful way, allowing it to express itself as it truly wants and needs, perhaps in ways it has never felt free enough to do before.

The workshop includes space for sharing experiences and insights in a circle, as well as a final guided relaxation/visualisation.

These sessions are currently for women only but the intention is to open them up to everyone in the future.

My name is Maite (My-teh). I was born in Los Angeles to a Spanish family, have lived in the US, Spain and the UK, and I'm currently based in London. I have worked as an actress since I was a teenager, trained at the Royal Academy for Dramatic Arts, and performed in theatrical, film and TV productions for over 25 years. I also have a degree in psychology and I’ve always felt passionate about helping others feel better. (See my professional website)

Throughout my career as an actress I've experienced the healing power of working with my body in specific ways. I early on realised that the tools and techniques I was learning would more often than not, help me beyond my work on stage. My aim is to share what I’ve learnt with others.

I am also training to become a certified Yoga Nidra instructor as this practice has also been deeply nourishing for me for years.

Other Details

FOR WOMEN ONLY

This includes anyone who identifies themselves as a woman.  I would like for this space to feel safe enough so that you can be free to express yourself fully, and sometimes this can be easier to achieve in an women-only group. However, anyone can benefit from these practices and my intention is to open them up to all in the future.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Comfortable clothes to move in (I always recommend to bring several layers so you can add/remove them as you feel warmer/colder. You may sweat!)

  • A notebook & pen

  • Yoga mat if you’ve got one, or a blanket you can lie on (for the final relaxation)

  • Water bottle.

NO PREVIOUS DANCE/MOVEMENT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

THESE SESSIONS CAN BE BOOKED INDIVIDUALLY

12 PEOPLE MAX PER SESSION
